GetWellNetwork®, Inc., has once again recognized Community Regional Medical Center for its use of technology to enhance patient care and for the innovative ways we’re doing that. At the annual “Get Connected 2016 Interactive Patient Care Conference” held this past May in Philadelphia, GetWellNetwork gave our hospital awards for innovation and for research.

GetWellNetwork turns the television in patient rooms in our hospitals into an interactive education and entertainment portal where patients can view video education courses and discharge instructions tailored for their unique medical care and condition.

This recognizes the work being done throughout Community Regional to both educate and engage our patients in the management of their own health. The awards speak to the hospital’s efforts to promote excellence on all inpatient units every day – allowing the patient’s voice to inform and shape our engagement strategies. The Innovation and Performance Improvement Team provide support and guidance to operationalize these efforts.

Out of 125 nominations, Community Regional was honored for the following:
  • Innovation:  for advancing the impact of interactive patient care through creative strategies, care processes and technology. GetWell called Community Regional “a leader in the IPC community” for using this technology to improve the patient experience and patient care outcomes.
  • Research: for participating in a national, multi-facility research project that will provide ways to measure a patient's capacity to self-manage his/her own healthcare. It will also identify barriers and help health systems create effective interventions.

GetWellNetwork said on their web site that the 2016 winners “represent the best of the best among America’s leading health care organizations. Whether they are caring for our youngest patients and their families or our Veteran community, these providers are redefining patient care and clinical practice.”

I’ll second that! Join me in congratulating our team for a job well done! You can also congratulate our team on our Facebook. Our willingness to collaborate and learn how to work in new ways creates an environment where excellence should be celebrated.
