Two of Community Medical Centers’ top leaders have been elected to serve on statewide and national healthcare association boards.

Jack Chubb, chief executive officer of Community Regional Medical Center, the flagship hospital in downtown Fresno, was appointed to the Premier Healthcare Alliance’s Group Purchasing and Member Relations stockholder committee.

Mary Contreras, chief nursing officer for Community Medical Centers, was elected by her peers to serve on the Association of California Nurse Leaders’ board. She’ll represent the central region during her two-year term.

The California Nurse Leaders represent registered nurses throughout the state to develop nurse leaders, advance professional practices, influence health policy and promote quality care and patient safety. Contreras, who has been a 16-year member of the association, said she was honored to be elected.

Chubb joins a committee of 23 expert executives who advise the alliance’s board of directors on financial improvement programs, group purchasing and resource utilization. Premier represents 2,700 hospitals and 90,000 other healthcare entities that pool resources on purchasing and share data on patient outcomes to improve patient care.

Durral Gilbert, Premier’s president of supply chain services, said Chubb will be part of a group leading efforts to transform and improve healthcare. “We’re thrilled that they have been chosen to help set direction for the alliance by working together to support members and offer advice on the best strategies to survive the implications of reform.”
