Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital has received Healthgrades^® Outstanding Patient Experience Award for a sixth consecutive year and is among the nation’s top 5% for consistently delivering care that patients’ rate as exceptional.
 

The hospital is one of only 192 nationwide recognized by Healthgrades at the top in patient experience. Fresno Heart & Surgical is known for all private rooms and individualized accommodations in a hotel-like setting. And patients remember the staff as warm, friendly and responsive.

The 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award was based on patient survey data collected as part of the federal government’s Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, or HCAHPS.
 

The federal HCAHPS initiative gathers patient responses to 27 survey questions related to physician and nurse communication, speed of responsiveness, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, medication information, pain management and post-discharge care instructions. The survey, which is reported publically, is designed to collect data so health consumers can make objective and meaningful comparisons among hospitals on issues that are important to patients.
 

Fresno Heart & Surgical also has been recognized for its clinical excellence in bariatric surgery, carotid surgery and intensive care nursing. Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital’s cardiac program has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention™ for consistently good outcomes for patients undergoing catheterization lab and cardiology procedures. The hospital also has received Healthgrades’ Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award for four consecutive years, placing it among the top 5% in the nation for the weight-loss procedure.
