Two generous donors gave $50,000 to Community Medical Centers to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. Wells Fargo’s $25,000 gift was matched by an anonymous donor.

The financial institution’s grant benefits Community’s COVID-19 Response Fund, used to purchase vital supplies such as ventilators, in-house COVID-19 testing, patient monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), among other needs.

“Community’s frontline care workers are putting themselves – and their loved ones – at risk of COVID-19 every time they go through the hospital doors to provide life-saving care to Valley residents,” said Wells Fargo Greater Central Valley Region Bank President Sandy Raco. “We are honored to support these heroes who are working tirelessly and placing themselves in harm’s way to ensure the health of our Valley.”

As home to the Central Valley’s only Level 1 trauma center, Community’s staff and physicians train and routinely prepare for situations like the coronavirus crisis, including surge preparation for increased bed capacity.

Wells Fargo has increased its charitable donations to $175 million in part to help public health organizations fight the spread, and support treatment of COVID-19 across the country.

“The core values for Community and Wells Fargo are aligned in doing all we can to help our Valley,” said Katie Zenovich, senior vice president of development and external affairs for Community. “In this unprecedented time, we appreciate the generosity of our donors and corporate partners, including Wells Fargo, who are helping us lead the way in our COVID-19 response. Wells Fargo recognizes the importance of this effort, and we are so grateful they have stepped forward to help us flatten the curve in Central California.”
