U.S. Service members, local medical professionals work together

In December, Community Medical Centers on-boarded 15 U.S. Air Force and five U.S. Army medical personnel, including doctors, nurses and respiratory technicians.

They were part of the Department of Defense (DoD) medical teams deployed to four California hospitals to provide critical care and medical support alongside hospital staff in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The airmen are assigned to the 60th Medical Group, Travis Air Force Base, CA, part of COVID Theater Hospital 1, and the soldiers are assigned to the 627th Hospital Center, Fort Carson, CO, part of Urban Augmentation Medical Task Force 627.

The DoD personnel are part of the Joint Force Land Component Command under U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North and remain committed to providing flexible DoD support to the whole-of-America COVID-19 response.
