I remember the night it happened. I got a late-night security call about the family restaurant when a burning sensation erupted in my chest. I started sweating, vomiting, and feeling lightheaded. After a call to 9-1-1, I was rushed to Clovis Community Medical Center where they found my main artery was 100% blocked, and two others were 70% blocked. I later found out I suffered a "widowmaker heart attack," a condition most people don’t recover from.

I underwent emergency triple-bypass surgery. While the news was hard for my entire family, my mom was especially worried. My father had died from heart disease , and the thought of losing her son to the same fate was unbearable.

But the cardiac team at Clovis Community was amazing. I am so grateful to have their expertise available here in the Valley. Otherwise, I’m not sure I would be here today. They saved my life that night and gave me a second chance.

Now I’m on the road to recovery. I’m eating healthier, exercising regularly, and managing my diabetes more carefully. I feel healthier and stronger than ever – and without Community, I never would have had the chance.
