In keeping with Community Health System’s succession plan, I am pleased to announce that beginning February 3, Craig Wagoner will succeed Craig Castro as Community Health System’s President and CEO. Our Board of Trustees values and prioritizes succession planning as a critical process for long-term success and sustainability, and our organization has realized the benefit of those efforts. Craig Wagoner assumed the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in April 2020, and for the past five years has continued to impress our Board, demonstrating his ability to seamlessly step in as CEO.

This role is vital to Valley residents who depend on effective healthcare leadership and decision-making, and our Board is delighted to now formalize this long-established next step in Community’s history.

Craig first joined us as Chief Operating Officer of Clovis Community nearly 18 years ago. Since, Craig has had a textbook career at Community serving in various leadership roles. These include Chief Operating Officer for Community Regional Medical Center, then CEO for Community Regional. His role expanded to CEO of both Community Regional and Clovis Community before becoming our system’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Although Craig’s vast experience made him an appealing CEO candidate to health systems across the nation, Community is his passion and his home.

Craig is fiercely committed to advancing healthcare in our region and fulfilling our mission to better the lives of all those we serve. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone as uniquely equipped as Craig to take the helm, build on our accomplishments, and lead our great organization to new heights of success.

I know that with the unwavering support of our team members, Craig will continue to make Community Health System a beacon for healthcare excellence in the Central Valley.
