Pharmacy Residency Program History

Our Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program was established in 2002 at Community Regional Medical Center to help promote our mission to increase the quality of our patient care. We expanded upon this philosophy in 2016 at Clovis Community Medical Center, thus establishing our second program. Both programs are currently accredited through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

The PGY1 residency programs build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills and abilities for the inpatient setting. Those who successfully complete a PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, and leadership. They will also be able to seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.

Positions Available

Program Curriculum

Our pharmacy residency program provides a strong foundation for residents to build their clinical skills at training sites that value inter-professional collaboration and medical education. Residents will participate in providing care to a diverse population of patients and addressing the healthcare needs of the Central Valley.

Required learning experiences are scheduled at each resident’s respective home-based site while elective learning experiences are available to all residents at both sites. Each rotation’s duration is 4-6 weeks.
