Understanding Our Patient Care Process

Community Behavioral Health Center features four units providing tailored levels of care for patients with primary psychiatric diagnoses. The center can treat dual diagnosis patients, as long as their care needs primarily relate to psychiatric symptoms.

Assessment of a patient can be done on site or at one of the following facilities:
  • Community Regional Medical Center
  • Clovis Community Medical Center
  • Exodus Crisis Stabilization Unit
  • Saint Agnes Medical Center Emergency Department
  • Kaiser Permanente Emergency Department

If accepted, a patient can be transferred to Community Behavioral Health Center for psychiatric care after they are determined to be medically stable.

  • Psychiatric Assessments-Voluntary and involuntary assessments are completed on site
  • Recreation Therapy
  • Group and Individual Therapy
  • Medication Management
  • Milieu Management
  • Other treatment modalities

Walk-in requests for evaluation are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. An assessment will be provided to evaluate the need for 5150 hold (a temporary, involuntary hold for those who present a danger to themselves or others), inpatient admission or outpatient referral. An inpatient admission to the facility will be based upon meeting criteria and current hospital capacity. Transfers are also accepted from other hospitals in the area.

Visiting hours are every night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Patients must list each visitor by name or staff will not confirm or deny if the patient is here and visitors will be turned away.

Visitors must provide government or school issued picture identification to be allowed inside the facility to visit the patient. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed to visit patient units, but special visiting times can be arranged through the patient's physician. Visitors may not bring any items onto the patient care units outside of their car keys and a wallet holding their identification. Visitors will be wanded by security before entry, and any items brought for patients must be checked by staff for appropriateness before being given to the patient.
