Sonography Programs

Sonography is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to produce images of organs, tissues or blood flow inside the body. It's used to examine many parts of the body and is increasingly used to detect and treat heart and vascular disease.

The professionals who perform these procedures are known as sonographers and they are in high demand. We offer two sonography programs at Community Regional Medical Center – the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and the Advanced Cardiac Sonography Program.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is one of California’s few hospital-based sonography programs. This 18-month program at Community Regional Medical Center is approved to operate by California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and programmatically accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). Community Regional is accredited by The Joint Commission.

The 18-month Advanced Cardiac Sonography Program at Community Regional Medical Center is approved to operate by California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and programmatically accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Community Regional is accredited by The Joint Commission.

The Community Regional Advanced Cardiac Sonography Program is a hybrid program designed for working adults. It was developed to create a career track for sonographers who practice at an advanced level in the echocardiography laboratory. The program’s goal is to provide a formal educational pathway to create opportunities for clinical and administrative advancement of the echocardiographer in their respective echocardiographic laboratories.
